My buddy Steve, who lives in Poughkeepsie and works in Manhattan called us early last week and said he and Cathy were going to camp in Cape Vincent. Were we interested?
Well, with temps forecast for the mid 80's, it was a no-brainer. We usually open up in late May, so getting up there in the first week in April would be a record.
The only minor bump in the weekend was a front right tie-rod end that needed to be replaced on our truck. We were about 20 miles from camp on Friday afternoon and the truck started shimmying. I was thinking brakes needed repair.
We made it to camp and parked.

Had burgers and dogs for supper...
Fortunately for me Steve is not only a great cook, but can fix anything, so Saturday Morning, we took the tire off and he diagnosed the tie-rod thing. After a couple of trips to NAPA, one to get the wrong part, and another to get the right part, it was fixed. Cool.
All better.
Then we setlled down to do what we do best, cook and eat.

The first order of business was to put the prime rib on the grill.
Seasoned, with a little water in the pan, close the lid and cook @ 275 for about 8 hrs.
Chef Steve and his new friend.
Then we had snacks.
Chinese dumplings with Steve's homemade sauce-wicked good sauce, I mean wicked good.
and then....
Wings baby, a little on the warm side.....
Looking good- it was the best prime rib I've ever had, and I've had me some prime rib over the years.
A good time was had by all....
Red was in her element.
As was Flash....
and Charlie Brown.
Later that afternoon the girls took the paddle boat out.
The only thing they caught was a skateboard!
And there was our other buddy Tommy Bell who came up from Rochester with Doris.
There's Tom trying to unwind the wires for his surround sound.
He got it done, (after about an hour).
Great food, great friends, great weather. It doesn't get any better than that!
Prime Rib on the grill. YUM-O
