Benefit Dinner Results
Last Tuesday we held a spaghetti dinner to benefit Robbie and James. They're both undergoing treatment for cancer.
Once again the people who live in Tupper Lake rallied and came out in droves to support these guys.
We serve around 600 dinners, and it went smooth as silk. A huge Thank You to the many volunteers who baked desserts and worked the evening.
Thanks to the kindness of the people of Tupper Lake we raised $9000.
Above are Ted, Rob's Mom Susie, Jame's mom Ellen and yours truly presenting the checks to help Robbie and James with the expenses associated with their treatment.
I'm mighty humbled and extremely grateful to live in a small town that gives so freely.
Awesome job Tupper Lake-The Small Town with the Big Heart.
Pancakes at work....
My co-worker and buddy Ted had an idea a year ago-He came to me and said, "Let's have a waffle breakfast for everybody at work before we go on Spring Break." "Great idea," said I. And we did it.
And it ends.....
One of our hobbies is Syracuse Basketball. It's been that way since I was a kid (which is longer ago than I'd like to believe). It's entertaining, and makes the long North Country winters go by a little quicker.
With March and the madness that comes with following college hoops comes a great roller coaster ride. This year was a great ride. The "Cuse went from unranked, all the way to a #1 ranking late in the season, won the Big East title, and made it to the Sweet 16.
There they met a Butler team and their 33 year old coach that has destiny written all over it. For cryin' out loud they practice in the gym where Hoosiers was filmed. Butler knocked of Kansas State yesterday and is headed to the Final 4. Syracuse is home. But that's OK.
Only one team makes it all the way, and the fact that we had a chance to get there is pretty cool. And there's always next year, right?
So congrats to the Orange- (and Butler, who I've got to root for now).
See you in the fall!
Go 'Cuse!

Guests Posts!
Got some wicked pics to share from a couple of co-workers-
The cool thing is they would go together.
One for the main course and one for dessert.
Prey sent me these - A take-off on Man vs. Food which if you've never watched it, is classic television. Adam Richmond is phenomenal. Fred Hill was the chef.
In her own words-
"Fred made these awesome hotter than hell burgers.. inspired by man vs food tv show. jalepeno and spice in the beef. then again spicy rub and mounded hot stuff on top. kicked butt!

Breakfast Pie...
You know, I've consumed a lot of pizza in my half-century. Some of that has been in the morning.
Always it's consisted of the previous nights leftovers. Put a little oil in a frying pan, put the pizza in and cover it- bottom gets nice and crisp and the cheese gets mushy melted.
Perfect way to start the day.
And then I ran across this today- It's a pizza you'd make for breakfast and it looks darn good, like realllly darn good. I do believe I'll give this a go in the next couple of weeks. Or maybe for supper tonight.

Painting Raffle to fight cancer.
My buddy Ted was in Casagrain's Studio and Gallery in Tupper Lake today when something wonderful happened.
Gary and his wife donated a painting to be raffled off to benefit our guys Robbie and James, who are fighting the good fight against cancer.
Gary is painter. His wife Barb makes the frames. It's classic Adirondack. Here's a link that show's some of his work. Casagrain Paintings.
Let's Go Orange!
Alright. The Cuse took care of business on Friday night dispatching Vermont.
I was a little more worried about today's game vs. Gonzaga.

Saturday....
I was just in the kitchen, sitting at the table, listening to Willie Nelson singing "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the rain" on the radio.
Great song for reflecting.

Sunday Rolls Around.....
It's Sunday, It's a gray March day. It's time to cook. More like time to bake. While my better half prepared corned beef, cabbage, taters and carrots, I was charged with baking rolls.

Count your blessings.
Maybe it's age and the wisdom that accompanies it, but lately I've been feeling pretty lucky.
I live in a great place and am surrounded by wonderful people.
Our community certainly isn't the richest in the literal sense, but it is rich in people that love to help one another in times of need.

Drat- every hotdog lover's dream ride was in the Tri-Lakes and somehow it eluded me.
I am completely bummed out.......

Oscar Meyer Dogs aren't the best. Not even close.
I'll take Nathan's, Hoffman's, or Zweigels over them any day.
But man, the Wienermobile is cooler than the other side of the pillow.
Maybe I'll take some time off from work and track it down.
A Spiritual Searching, a Sausage Sabbatical...
Kinda like Jack Kerouac, you know, On the Road in Search of the 4 Wheeled Wiener.
I can sense the beginning of the next great American novel here.....
I need to find my inner wiener.

The VFW, American Legion, Marine Corps League and ARISE sponsored the day, and what a day it was!
Here's the story from Channel 5- Link-to Berg's story
